How to configure Google Pay for Adyen

Offering the payment method Google Pay in combination with Adyen as payment provider requires additional configuration. Check out the additional steps you need to go through below.

Please note: We assume a working configuration for a payment provider exists already in WordPress. See the Pronamic Pay – Getting Started manual first, if there is no configuration yet at Pay » Configurations.

A step-by-step guide to configuring Google Pay for Adyen.

  1. Requesting production access

To receive a merchant identifier, you need to request ‘production access’ from Google. Refer to this page and click the ‘Request production access’ button to obtain production access. For your request, use the integration in ‘test’ mode.

  2. Enter the Merchant ID

After Google approves your request, a ‘Google Pay Developer Profile’ will be created and you will be assigned a Google Pay Merchant Identifier. Copy this Merchant ID and enter it in the Adyen configuration on your website, under the Advanced tab.

  3. Register your domain name

The domain name on which you want to use Google Pay needs to be registered. Navigate to your Google Pay Developer Profile to add the domain name.

  4. Send additional data

Finally, send additional data to Google (such as the URL and any login details), so that Google can verify the configuration in ‘live’ mode.

  5. Receive final approval

After Google has verified the integration with the additional data, you will receive a so-called ‘launch clearance’; permission from Google to actually offer the Google Pay payment method.

  6. The payment method is configured

The payment method Google Pay is now active and can be offered on your website.
