Additional configuration is required to offer the Google Pay payment method in combination with Adyen as a payment provider. View the additional steps you need to go through below.
Please note: We assume a working configuration for a payment provider exists already in WordPress. See the Pronamic Pay – Getting Started manual first, if there is no configuration yet at Pay » Configurations.
Request Merchant Identifier
The extra step you have to go through is to fill in a Google Pay Merchant Identifier. This is the ID of your Google Pay account, which you can obtain by going through the following steps.

A step-by-step guide to configuring Google Pay for Adyen.
- Request production access
To receive a merchant identifier, you must request 'production access' from Google. Consult this page and click on the 'Request production access' button to obtain production access. Please use the integration in 'test' mode for your application.
- Enter the Merchant ID
After Google approves your request, a 'Google Pay Developer Profile' will be created and you will receive a Google Pay Merchant Identifier assigned. Copy this Merchant ID and enter it in the Adyen configuration on your website, under the tab Advanced.
- Register your domain name
The domain name on which you want to use Google Pay must be registered. Navigate to your Google Pay Developer Profile to add the domain name.
- Send additional information
Finally, you send additional data to Google (such as the URL and any login details) so that Google can verify the configuration in 'live' mode.
- Receive final approval
After Google has checked the integration with the additional data, you will receive a so-called 'launch clearance'; permission from Google to actually offer the Google Pay payment method.
- The payment method is configured
The payment method Google Pay is now active and can be offered on your website.
Pay with Google Pay
To be able to pay with Google Pay, you must be logged in as a customer with your Google account. As a customer, it is required to have activated at least one valid payment method before you can actually pay with Google Pay.
